Add Notes to a Patient Encounter

Adding notes to a patient encounter is a useful tool for communicating important information about a patient case between users, clinics, labs and pathologists.

Click “Notes” in a patient encounter.

In the pop-up window you can:

  1. Type the note.

  2. Select which groups you want to be able to see the note.

  3. Select which groups you want to receive an email notification about the note.

  4. Type and select which user(s) you would like to be specifically assigned to the note. These users will be notified of the note in BxLink and via email.

  5. Click “Submit.”

If a group isn’t selected in step 2 then no one in that group will be able to see the note. So, if it’s a note that is relevant to the pathologist and/or lab make sure the pathologist and/or lab are selected in this step.

In step 3 if a group is selected EVERY user within that group will receive an email notification about the note. This is rarely necessary. In most cases it is better to simply assign specific users to the note so that only relevant people involved in the note will be notified via email.

The new note will appear on the right.

When the assigned user(s) next log in they will see the new note notification at the top of their screen.

If they select the notification they will be taken to the notes dashboard where they can open the patient encounter and access the note.

From there, they can assign the note to other users or mark as resolved.
