Searching for Patient Encounters

Searching for Patient Encounters

Select “Search All” from the “Encounter” drop-down menu.

You will be taken to a page with a wide variety of search options. These options are particularly helpful for finding a single patient and finding groups of patients that all meet specific criteria. Simply fill the desired fields and click “Search.”

Only one field needs to be populated to complete a search. If needed, click “Clear” to clear the form and start over.

The search options are:

  • Patient Information

    • Patient ID, First Name, Last Name and/or Birthdate

  • Encounter Information

    • Encounter ID, Accession, Accession Range End and/or RFID

  • Billing Code

  • Date Range

    • Scheduled, Accessioned, Received in Lab, Changed and/or Signed Out

  • Diagnosis Information

    • Procedure Type, Category, Diagnosis and/or Grade

  • Report Information

    • Status and/or Type

  • Clinic Information

    • Clinic and/or Clinician

  • Lab

  • Pathology Information

    • Pathology Group, Pathologist and/or Stain

  • Ancillary Tests

All encounters that meet your search criteria will appear. Click “Edit Search” to edit the current search or create a new search.

You can use the up/down arrows in each tab to toggle the way the information is displayed.

If you were searching for a specific encounter, click the horizontal bar for that patient to open that specific encounter.

If you were searching for a group of encounters for data collection, or any other purpose, follow the next step to learn how to extract that information.

In the top right corner (of both the search menu and the search results) you will see the “Batch Operation” drop-down menu. This menu provides the following options for the results of your search:

  • Download a CSV export (particularly useful in data collection)

  • Print all the requisitions

  • Print all the draft reports

  • Print all the approved reports

  • Download all the draft reports

  • Download all the approved reports

If you select “CSV Export” a menu will pop up providing you with options of what you would like to be included in that download including:

  • Patient Information

  • Encounter Information

  • Diagnosis

  • Billing Code

  • Ancillary Tests

Simply select the desired options and click “I Agree” and a CSV will immediately begin to download onto your computer.

All the other “Batch Operation” options will simply open a new window with printer-ready or download-ready files of the requested reports.
